Discussion Panel

Hosted by Monique Régimbald-Zeiber, this panel is an opportunity to think the symbolism of wandering and discovering in a creation context. Starting from their respective residences, the artists of La Track | The Track will comment on their experiences.

As part of La Track | The Track project, five American artists from Baltimore will be at Galerie B-312 for in situ and off-site residencies, culminating in two group exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Art Baltimore in November 2019 and at Galerie B-312 in February 2020.

Conversations Montréal | Lyon — BIKINI

Mais le bruit d'un marteau, qui résonne au loin, te pousse à interrompre l'enregistrement. Tu te lèves et regardes dehors. La lumière pâlit. Ta vitre frémit. Il y a du vent. Une mince fumée sort d’une cigarette qui se consume dans un cendrier posé sur le rebord de la fenêtre du voisin.

Artist in residence

During her residency, Camila Eslava has created a series of 170 meditative drawings that follow different variations of black ink drops on photographic white paper. She then sent several of them, randomly, to various strangers who are residents of Montreal.

The collective HeHe, composed of Helen Evans and Heiko Hansen, designes surprising hybrid machines that are at times oversized.Their projects are often the result of highly sophisticated processes that involve scientists and specialists.

L'habit / The suit
As part of Animals and Children

This performance is inspired by a child’s suit. This found object, belonging to another era, appears to be a shrunken version of a grown up’s clothing. Not knowing the clothing’s specific history allows for a continual projection of possible scenarios.

Arko Preeka

Monique Moumblow has five-year-old twin girls in the midst of learning language and social skills. Arko Preeka is a phrase made-up by the twins that had deep emotional meaning to the girls yet remained elusive to others.

Cian Éthrie, a Montréal-based duo formed by Francis Amireault and Marcello Marandola, scoffs at all musical boundaries and plays with everything, while Victoria Stanton navigates the murky waters of a playful melancholy, perfect songs for children in adult bodies.

Heterosexy is a catchword that combines the idea of heterogeneity with that of attractiveness. This evocation of "attractive heterogeneity" resonates a bit in contrast to the famous Freudian "disturbing strangeness" without being opposed to it.
