EYELEVEL GALLERY
EFFLUENT
- Exposition
The exchange project between artist-run centres outside of Quebec and the Galerie B-312 is in its final stage with the presentation of the EyeLevel Gallery centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The latter, as well as the galleries of Sans Nom in Moncton, New Brunswick, Eastern Edge in Saint John, Newfoundland and ArtCite in Windsor, Ontario, have in turn hosted the exhibition Diversité et Rapprochement, featuring the works of our centre's members. Effluent is the title of the exhibition presented by Moritz Gaede, curator for the occasion. It presents the works of ten artists who are members of the collective. A diversity of mediums and represented through the fields of painting and sculpture. These two fields represent the focus of artistic interests while demonstrating the critical positioning of these young artists. From the minimalist work to the violent gestures of Kelly Mark, to the pornographic-inspired work of Charmaine Wheatley, to the meditative painting on the forbidden fruit of the old testament by Marilyn McAvoy and the "Jumbo Crackrock" and Les Newman, the works impose themselves through their direct tone, while provoking the exchange between the different practices.
