Through dioramas and photographs, Daniel Corbeil develops a narrative showing how, in 2035, an island community adapts to the accelerated changes in their territory caused by climate disruptions. The rapid and permanent rise in sea levels poses an urgent threat that requires a radical and ingenious reconfiguration of housing.

With Ephemerides, Danielle Cormier offers a series of sculptures which are displayed in the large room of Galerie B-312. Interested in the fluidity of plaster, the artist examines the process of transformation of the material. Through imprinting and molding processes, she creates objects which, placed on the ground, become space determinants. The producing process, from its liquid substance at the beginning to the solid and frozen substance at the end, informs and induces the final object.

It is with great pride that we unveil the Winter-Spring program of 2022: three special exhibitions, presented in quick succession, to highlight the 30th anniversary of our center. With unique creations conceived by artists invited to commit themselves to the questions related to space and time.

As directors of artist-run centers in Montreal and Rouyn-Noranda, and guest curators at Galerie d'art Desjardins in Drummondville, Marthe Carrier and Matthieu Dumont have chosen to explore this triangulation: how is contemporary art lived and deployed in our regions? 

Much has been said since last Spring about the challenges that the pandemic poses for the performing arts. About the necessary proximity between artists and the public. Little has been heard about practices in the visual arts. However, to feel the full weight of a visual art  proposal, generated by the choices made on space, material, the connection to the body or to emotions, also requires a presence.

When the strange knock on the well-known door, it created perceptual and psychological discomfort. Involving itself cunningly, not to say sneaky, it causes awkwardness or fear. The artists reclaim a collective and symbolic basin to better invest it with a personal aesthetic.

Originally from China and based in Toronto for six years now, the curator Yan Zhou proposes Breathing, a search and creation project bringing together Chinese and Canadian artists. The project addresses environmental, political, economic and social concerns resulting from the smog phenomenon.

eXcentrer's curators Marthe Carrier, Stéphanie Chabot, Emmanuelle Choquette and Émilie Granjon, directors of Galerie B-312, Skol, Arprim and Circa invite you to this singular event which takes place from September 2019 to May 2020 at the Galerie d'art Desjardins de Drummondville.

The trompe-l’œil is nested in the time of emergence, the time where the surprise effect leads us to poetic contemplation. It is part of a bitter-sweet seduction strategy motivated by a double game of illusion and disillusionment, truth and falsehood. The exhibition Dans l’intimité du leurre presents installational, sculptural and pictorial works that play with the thresholds of sensory perception and outsmarts the senses. 

Scrutinizing issues raised by different geopolitical, social or economic situations on the world stage, Ariamna Contino and Alex Hernández propose visual interventions where the plastic and aesthetic treatment of the materials reveals troubling facts.

Liam Maloney photographed refugees living in a makeshift camp in Lebanon. At dusk, using their mobile phones, they communicate with their relatives in Syria. The artist captures moments of intimacy where images and text messages exchanged carry life, death, suffering and hope.

Curator Santiago Pérez Garci, director of the Museo Nacional de la Estampa (Mexico) join forces with Arprim, and Circa art actuel, with the complicity of Galerie B-312, to host a collective exhibition with nine Mexican artists.

But the sound of a hammer in the distance prompts you to interrupt the recording. You stand up and look outside. The light fades. Your window shivers. The wind is blowing. A thin smoke emerges from a cigarette burning in an ashtray on the neighbor's windowsill.

Created by Jean-Pierre Aubé, 31 soleils (Dawn chorus) is an installation composed of a video and a sound piece. Entirely immersive, it is the result of the observation of the sunrise coupled with the low frequencies emitted by radio waves at this precise moment of the day.

Julie Favreau presents From Her Character an in situ proposal that continues the research initiated with She Century, a body of variable works that revisits the history and archetypes of women from the position of the artist and their apprehension of the gesture. 

The first part of Statuer. Les figures du socle was recently presented at Action Art Actuel artist-run centre (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu). With new artists and strictly pre-existing works, the second part take place at Galerie B-312. 

They are six. All in their twenties and thirties. They studied arts at Concordia University and UQAM. They chose painting. The exhibition Six peintres, deux écoles, trois lieux, une rencontre, presented in 2014 at Galerie B-312 and in two other Montréal art centres.

Res Ipsa Loquitur exhibition allows to see the collection of silkscreens of Corridart. Pour la liberté d’expression (1982) created by Graff to finance the appeal filed following the defeat of the lawsuit initiated by Corridart artists against the City of Montréal.

The work created by Pierre Ayot and Denis Forcier for Corridar will be reassembled. It's a legendary work, unfortunately dismanted too quickly in July 1976. We wiil recreate a replica of this work at the foot of Mount Royal. 

The event Pierre Ayot is a retrospective offering different perspectives on the practice of Pierre Ayot. This fall, take the opportunity to see several works, some never shown before, of this significant artist in the art history of Quebec.

Both painter and sculptor, Philippe Chabot reflects on the deconstruction of the medium, matter and subject through time and space. Using mechanical motifs, he transforms the subject into visual games and optical effects.

To begin the 2014 season, Galerie B-312 invites you to an exhibition bringing together six graduates of Concordia University and UQAM from the Master’s of Visual Arts program. All have chosen painting.

To mark the 20 years of Galerie B-312 differently, about twenty artists gather and offer us an unprecedented way to access and share art.Jusqu’à épuisement des stocks/While Supplies/Last is a collective project of contextual art on USB key.

Consisting of 27 works, this event highlights the dynamism and versatility of Galerie B-312, which has become, over time, a reference on the Montréal’s contemporary art scene. 

The creations of Éva Chatigny reveal the architectural patterns specific to the urban landscapes. Connected together, the objects come together like variations of the same theme. Due to their appearance, arrangement and scale, objects are like furniture or models.
