ARTIST STATEMENT
Carolyne Scenna’s work takes various forms, consisting of photographs, « lo-fi » videos, installations and various objects. Eager to discover prodigious entries into a world never filled enough with images, she recurrently manipulates her photographic archives, tracing back and forth between the processes she experiments. Her work presents unusual situations, bordering on the strange and the ordinary. The images that the artist puts forward unfold in a diversity of meanings, often poetic and contradictory.
Biography:
Carolyne Scenna lives and works in Montreal. She holds a master’s degree in Visual and Media Arts from UQÀM (2017). Her work has been namely presented at Les Territoires (2015), Parisian Laundry (2016), Galerie de l’UQÀM (2017), Centre Clark (Pluton, 2019), ICA of Baltimore (USA, 2019), Galerie B-312 (2020) and soon at Centre Skol in Montreal and l'Écart in Rouyn-Noranda (2021).
