LES JEUDIS TOUT OUÏE
Concert
Catherine Jauniaux—Often describe as a "one-woman-orchestra" or a "human sampler", Catherine Jauniaux is one of the best kept secrets in the world of improvised music. Active on the international scene, she has collaborated with many outstanding figures of the improvised scene, avant-garde rock and dance, including Fred Frith, Marc Ribot, Ikue Mori, Louis Sclavis, Barre Phillips, François Verret, Tom Cora, David Moss, ErikM and Aksak Maboul. Her performances mixes seriousness and humour, sound and emotion exploration, abstraction and melody. "She is often inspired by traditional music (real or imagined) from around the world but remains more Grimm Brother than a Professor of ethnomusicology.
Pierre Tanguay—A percussionist, composer and optimist handyman, Pierre Tanguay is one of Montréal’s most sought-after musicians on the Québec scene. Since the early 80’s, he has participated in an impressive number of groups, including Jean Derome et les Dangereux Zhoms, Évidence, Castor et compagnie. He evolves freely in the world of jazz, contemporary, medieval and traditional music, and composes music for dance, theatre and cinema.
Joane Hétu—Composer, vocalist and saxophonist, but above all a woman of heart and mind, Joane Hétu has, for more than 25 years, made a name for herself on the Canadian music scene, at the turn of an unusual path within the Wondeur Brass, Justine and Les Poules. She regularly collaborates, among others, with improvisers Martin Tétreault, Lori Freedman, Lee Pui Ming, Diane Labrosse and Jean Derome. She is also a member of the Ambiances Magnétiques label and President of record label DAME.
Jean Derome—One of the most active and eclectic musicians on the Canadian creative music scene, Jean Derome has established himself as one of the major creative forces in Québec and elsewhere. An experienced and innovative saxophonist and flautist, he is also a composer with a recognizable touch. Sensitive and powerful, his music is often imbued with humour that makes its complexity more inviting. Co-founder of the label Ambiances magnétiques, Derome has more than 70 record appearances and 30 years of career.
