ARTIST RESIDENCY

Farzaneh Rezaei presents her drawing project entitled Tracer, produced following her internship at Galerie B-312 as part of the démART-Mtl program of the Conseil des arts de Montréal. This artwork was produced on a particular support: the model of the gallery's first space reproduced on a 1:2 scale, created to mark the centre's thirtieth anniversary and placed in the middle of the current space. She seized the opportunity of the presence of this model to deploy some aspects of her approach in an ephemeral mural. For years, drawing and all the experimental, intimate and expressive possibilities that characterize it have taken a prominent place in her artistic practice. Her work plays out as a place of introspection of the contradictory nature of the phenomenon of immigration. At the same time as the distance from the native land and roots can be painful, it is possible to flourish and begin to build new fragments of identity in the host country.
