eXcentrer is a year of special programming at the Galerie d’art Desjardins in Drummondville. It is curated by the directors of four artist-run centres in the Belgo building: Marthe Carrier (Galerie B-312), Stéphanie Chabot (Centre des arts actuels Skol), Emmanuelle Choquette (Arprim art imprimé), and Émilie Granjon (CIRCA art actuel).—The four curators have put works from their respective exhibitions into dialogue, developing a generous, approachable program that presents a wide range of mediums and artistic processes and that reflects the distinct character of each artist-run centre.—This project is an opportunity for the Belgo artist-run centres to expand the audience for their artworks and to work together collaboratively and innovatively, sharing the vision and expertise of each centre. For the Galerie d’art Desjardins, eXcentrer marks the beginning of a new direction focused on contemporary art, encouraging the involvement of a vibrant community of artists, art lovers, and new audiences of all ages and backgrounds.—A festive, multidisciplinary event will launch the program, which continues on through four group exhibitions around the themes of trompe-l’oeil, strangeness, collective memory, and identitary spaces.
