—OPENING THURSDAY 30 MAy 2013 AT 5:00 PM

The multidisciplinary artist (drawing, print, knitting, textile…) Marie-France Tremblay presents in the small gallery room Le Quai, an in situ installation composed of a mural and a sculpture, which is part of a long-term project called Les Continents. The artist inspiration for the mural comes from everyday life. Working from photographic documentation, she uses permutation processes such as displacement, symmetry and repetition to create unique "tiles" that she then manipulates and places on the wall. The overall image represents an animated and intriguing scene where banal and disturbing actions take place. The sculptural component of the installation depicts several pikes with knitted lures in their mouth. The childlike rendering of the work contrasts with the monstrous appearance of the pikes (open bellies, multiple heads and other mutants), generating a certain tension between apparent naivety and disturbance.
