For the 1999-2000 season, Galerie B-312 is beginning to present a series of musical events that will take place in its spaces. The first of these events will be held on Sunday, September 26 at 3 p.m., as part of the Journées de la culture. It will feature the duo Origine, composed of Pierre Chartier and René Brind'Amour. These musicians will perform their compositions on instruments of various origins. Among them, we can hear the didgeridoo, a rudimentary but fascinating wind instrument. This primitive trumpet, originally from Australia, is usually made of eucalyptus wood with a heart hollowed out by termites. Pierre Chartier will give us a glimpse of the multiple sonorities that can be drawn from it by highlighting its expressive character. René Brind'Amour will accompany him on the frame drum as well as on various percussion instruments. The Origine duo has been in existence for three years and has recently recorded two of its compositions on the compilation album Droit à la Liberté, a percentage of the sales of which is donated toAmnistie Internationaleand the Comité pour leDéveloppement et la Paix. It should be noted that this concert is free and that in addition to informing you about the instruments they use, the musicians will be happy to answer your questions.
