Zipertatou et Maxou

GROSSE TERRE BOULE
Maison de la culture de Pointe-aux-Trembles

In response to an invitation from Galerie B-312 to celebrate its 30th anniversary, this exhibition brings together Maxime Bruneau and zipertatou, who developed a collaborative project with artist's children. The children were involved in the entire process of creating an artistic video: the puppets were designed from their drawings; the sets were created in response to their ideas; they performed during the filming and composed the music and songs. By promoting their imagination, they were given the opportunity to appropriate the creative space as a way of working and getting involved.

17 May to 29 June

Alexis Gros-Louis

Coming soon

While photography is the essence of Alexis Gros-Louis' practice, he combines photographic techniques with a variety of media. These combinations, considered paratextual, aim to examine the substance of images as well as the histories and exchanges between objects, space and viewer. Alexis Gros-Louis highlights the complex relationships between the photographed objects, the space in which they are situated, and the viewer who interacts with the work. The artist is interested in notions of identity and belonging, and the normative systems of dominant cultures. Through his work, he questions art, artistic creation and the historical and current context in which they are expressed.

Danielle Cormier

Ephemerides

With Ephemerides, Danielle Cormier offers a series of sculptures which are displayed in the large room of Galerie B-312. Interested in the fluidity of plaster, the artist examines the process of transformation of the material. Through imprinting and molding processes, she creates objects which, placed on the ground, become space determinants. The producing process, from its liquid substance at the beginning to the solid and frozen substance at the end, informs and induces the final object. The contingencies of the material, the gestures – filling, supporting, holding or splitting – so many decisions which summon and determine the movement of the objects, from the artist's control and the unexpected that...

Victor Arroyo

Disappearance in Three Acts
ACT 1 | ACT OF MOURNING

Victor Arroyo works at the intersections of cinema and contemporary art. His films are inspired by various modes of listening and seeing, the result of long periods of observation, documentation and archiving. The Disappearance in Three Acts project is a video trilogy that examines the political and social complexities of contemporary Mexico. Each act of the trilogy is an exploration of trauma and marginalized histories. At Galerie B-312, he presents Act 1, Act of Mourning. Victor Arroyo is interested in how violent processes unfold in the landscape, and how the atrocities of the past continue to haunt the present. How is memory inscribed in space?

Pépite & Josèphe

Les galeries-logis
SOUND DESIGN—XAVIER MADORE

Starting from relational experiences developed during the creation of paintings custom-designed for individuals and their homes, the artists Pépite & Josèphe investigate, through various processes of capture and recomposition, the domestic spaces where the paintings were installed. With Les galeries-logis, the notions of refuge and exhibition space are revisited. The artists combine paintings, digital art and architectural creations in the large room of the gallery, while sculptures and sound art respond to each other in the small room. These creations form a poetic dialogue, materializing virtual environments on a reduced scale. The project, which combines digital, pictorial and sculptural...

Manon De Pauw

Lueurs oniriques
In collaboration with Pierre-Marc Ouellette—Music : NICOLAS BERNIER

In an attitude of intuitive discovery, Manon De Pauw is particularly attentive to what emerges under the camera's gaze. The manifest presence of the body in the work, the link between micro and macro, and light as a source of affect are at the heart of her approach. In addition to her photography and video work, she regularly collaborates with artists in dance, theater, literature, media arts and music, developing a singular approach to the performed image.

Her work has been presented in a multitude of exhibitions and festivals at home and abroad. They are also part of museum collections such as those of the MAC and MNBAQ. Her collaborations in the performing arts have led her to perform at Usine C, L...

Michèle Pearson Clarke

QUANTUM CHOIR
Momenta x Galerie B-312

Mimetic and metamorphosis are at the heart of Michèle Pearson Clarke's preoccupations, particularly in her most recent project, Quantum Choir. This four-channel video installation presented on screens is rooted in singing, a common activity in all cultures, both ordinary and extraordinary. More specifically, it focuses on the idea of a poor  voice performer learning to sing, bathed in insecurity, doubt and shame. The work examines the vulnerability at the heart of this apprenticeship, exploring the legibility, precariousness and affinity of contemporary queer feminine masculinity. Alongside the artist, three female participants take part in a choral performance created for the camera following several...

The works created by Soufïa Bensaïd are the fruit of an interdisciplinary artistic practice, and are relational, performative and visual. They invite us to enter into sincere and simple relationships with ourselves, with others, with what is present. The material is drawn from everyday life, and through installations and shared, attentive experiences, offers a space for encounter and reflection on notions of identity, transmission and perception.

Manon De Pauw

Residency

The Lueurs Oniriques project follows a long-standing collaboration between Manon De Pauw and choreographer Pierre-Marc Ouellette. During a summer residency at B-312, with a team of performers, the two partners will investigate different states of the body - such as hypnagogy, frenzy and obsession - echoing Nicolas Bernier's music. The danced segments and performative gestures will intertwine in the creative process and in the exhibition set-up, which will host in situ performances.
