If Geneviève Rocher's photographic research is relatively new, the pictorial is always called upon. A posture, a double action, emphasizing the ambivalence of spaces and plans, posing a tension between the hand's and the gaze's work.

LA TRACK | THE TRACK

Montréal | Baltimore

As part of La Track | The Track project, four Montreal artists and two art collectives will be at Pigment Sauvage for in situ and off-site residencies, culminating in two group exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Art Baltimore in November 2019 and at Galerie B-312 in February 2020.

For her first solo exhibition in Montreal, Lisa Duroux will occupy the showcases of Daigneault and Schofield’s studio with a new series of ceramic sculptures. The Japanese word shibari evokes the idea of captivity and a certain treatment of materiality.

Since 2004 Michel Daigneault and Stephen Schofield have offered the showcases of their studio on Rachel street to fellow artists to present their work. Artists occupy the windows for a two-month period and have used the space in a wide range of ways such as an exhibition or installation space.

Talks with Canadian artists about place and practice

Lezli Rubin-Kunda explores the nuanced path of creative work and the way artists make sense of home and place within their art practice and their lives. In this book, she expands her horizons, travelling across Canada to talk to more than fifty practicing artists.

Curator Santiago Pérez Garci, director of the Museo Nacional de la Estampa (Mexico) join forces with Arprim, and Circa art actuel, with the complicity of Galerie B-312, to host a collective exhibition with nine Mexican artists.

Atlas : Constellation II

Atlas: Constellation II is the continuation of Atlas, presented at the Galerie René Blouin in 2017. The project consists of reinventing constellations on a new celestial map from poems and texts transcribed by hand.

During his summer residency, Simon Bertrand plans to transcribe an excerpt from Miranda July’s short story The Shared Patio, on the wall of the gallery. The exhibition will take place from September 6 to October 13, 2018 at Galerie B-312.

LES ATOMISTES

Richard Deschênes creates enigmatic images proposing a reflection on time, duration and sublimation of the banal, while also giving his works a poetic dimension. Between drawing and paintings, the artworks of Les Atomistes cannot be easily deciphered.

Made up of seven pairs of dyed canvas trousers acting as scenographic props, the installation of Guillaume Adjutor Provost aunches an examination of the personal freedoms deployed by SPVM officers (the Montréal Police Department) during a strike action that ran between 2014 and 2017.

Created by Jean-Pierre Aubé, 31 soleils (Dawn chorus) is an installation composed of a video and a sound piece. Entirely immersive, it is the result of the observation of the sunrise coupled with the low frequencies emitted by radio waves at this precise moment of the day.

Thomas Bégin proposes a work where the rotation and the clash of the raw materials generate a singular mobile and sculptural ensemble. The installation consists of eight stones suspended by wires, such as mobiles, which strike a central rock, rotating on a motorized rotary platform.
