The works presented in Triangles exhibition foster a dialogue between one another where each questions in its own way, a stance against the "established". Videographic, installation and pictorial pieces explore negation and opposition in order to identify the artistic or political preoccupations.

PART I

Conversations Montréal | Lyon was initiated by curators Marthe Carrier and Chloé Grondeau and spearheaded by Galerie B-312 in Montreal. It has since become an avenue of exchange between Lyon and Montreal, with a particular emphasis on showcasing the local art scene in each city.

Julie Favreau presents From Her Character an in situ proposal that continues the research initiated with She Century, a body of variable works that revisits the history and archetypes of women from the position of the artist and their apprehension of the gesture.

Philippe Allard is interested in the impact of human activities on the environment. Inspired by arte povera, he salvages and collects materials and objects from industrial production and diverts the original meaning by transposing them into a new context.

The works of Thomas Bégin take the form of sound, kinetic and robotic installations made from obsolete audiovisual equipment, recovered musical instruments and electronic waste.

Julie Favreau's practice lies at the intersection of visual arts, dance, choreography and staged. Her research on performative gesture and movement feeds the production of sculptural objects. She creates characters, objects and gestures that compose enigmatic universes.

There are two figures in an empty room: she is the drawer, and he is the observer. They work in silence. She is on a low platform with a pile of paper and handmade charcoal. She draws continuously. He responds by writing, framing, and periodically intervening.

They are six. All in their twenties and thirties. They studied arts at Concordia University and UQAM. They chose painting. The exhibition Six peintres, deux écoles, trois lieux, une rencontre, presented in 2014 at Galerie B-312 and in two other Montréal art centres.
