ABOUT THE PROJECT
eXcentrer is a year of special programing at the Galerie d’art Desjardins de Drummondville, curated by the directors of four artist-run centres at the Belgo: Marthe Carrier (Galerie B-312), Stéphanie Chabot (Centre des arts actuels Skol), Emmanuelle Choquette (Arprim art imprimé) and Émilie Granjon (CIRCA art actuel). Together, they have put together works from their respective programmings to develop a generous and accessible one that includes a vast variety of approaches and mediums. Marking a new direction for the Galerie d’art Desjardins, this programing will be launched during a festive event and continues through four group exhibitions.

Galerie d’art Desjardins (GAD) is pleased to present the third exhibition of eXcentrer, a series of four group exhibitions that will compose its programming until May 2020. Naviguer en eaux troubles is an exhibition that can help us decode what is beyond us and have a renewed world vision that escapes logic and reason. When the strange knock on the well-known door, it created perceptual and psychological discomfort. Involving itself cunningly, not to say sneaky, it causes awkwardness or fear. What usually reassures us – everyday gestures and images – becomes disturbing to the point of leading to great questions about the other, the elsewhere, the beyond. So the symbolic is conjugated plural, giving voice to the mythological, the supernatural, the allegorical or the poetic. Brendan Flanagan, Jeanette Johns, David Martineau Lachance and Élise Provencher reclaim a collective symbolic basin to better invest it with a personal aesthetic.
