The duo Origine formed by Pierre Chartier and René Brind'Amour has been in existence for about four years. This group has participated in a few public concerts, notably as part of the World Music Festival organized by Musique Multi-Montréal in 2000 and 1997, as well as during intercultural evenings in Montreal and has recorded two of its compositions available on a compilation disc entitled Droit à la Liberté, a portion of the sales of which is donated to Amnesty International and the Committee for Development and Peace.

1 October 2000

As part of the Journées de la culture 2000, a workshop on didgeridoo initiation will take place in the space of the Gallery B-312. Pierre Chartier and René Brind'Amour of the duo Origine will be present to make this primitive trumpet from Australia better known. A presentation of the different types of instruments, the different sounds that can be produced from them and an introduction to playing technique will be on the program of this workshop, which will be held on Sunday, October 1st, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. So, if you would like to hear and try one of the oldest wind instruments in the world you are most welcome. Please note that this workshop is free, but the number of participants is limited. You can reserve your place by calling the gallery during normal opening hours.
