DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE

Artworks sale
Fundraising Sale and Exhibition

It is with photography as a theme several Montreal artists have come together to participate in Galerie B-312's fall fundraising event. The exhibition is composed of different works that raise questions about the problematic of photography.

Spring 1997
31 May to 28 June

EMMANUEL GALLAND, SAMUEL LAMBERT

MADE IN CHINA
Exhibition

Around the seriality of the large format and the representation of the human figure, two artists once again explore the cultural and emotional links that are woven into their respective photographic works.

26 April to 24 May

FRANCINE SAVARD

LA CHAMBRE À PEINTURE
Exhibition

This exhibition proposes a reflection on knowledge and death, two "extreme possibilities" that I consider intrinsically linked. A practice of painting that defies the historical periods of Minimalism and Pop Art, superimposing and stitching them together in a painting / figure.

22 March to 19 April

PAMÉLA LAUDRY

TES YEUX
Exhibition

Following a small serpentine path through hairy hills and mountains, a robot is walking. Unceasingly, in its circular and alienating course, the robot parades a morphology with double references.

15 February to 15 March

Mathieu Gaudet

EN SUITE
Exhibition

The large-scale work by artist Mathieu Gaudet divides the gallery space into three distinct corridors. A sort of spatial triptych made up of pieces in a row, En Suite reveals to the viewer precise moments in the relationship between the wall elements and the sculptural element.

11 January to 8 February

Manon Lévesque

ESPACEMENTS ET AUTRES ANTRES
Exhibition

Manon Lévesque's work proposes an implementation that deliberately keeps us in a form of ambiguity or abstraction. "Cyclops", in the main space of the exhibition, is composed of computer-generated images and a soundtrack, one enters it by being looked at, and then, one looks.

Fall 1996
23 November to 21 December

LÉON PERREAULT

WILDERNESS OF THE WEATHERLY
Exhibition

Léon Perreault's artistic work takes the audience on a journey across the plains. Empty and flat spaces that are confronted by the verticality of the two tower sculptures Murmur and Breath

19 October to 16 November

MARK VATNSDAL

Sans titre
Exhibition

Paradoxically, the definitive loss of nature in its pristine state is provoking an astonishing passion for a heavenly, fantastical, territory never explored by humans. In this sense, the whole work, a series of thirty canvases, superimposes two types - of visual approach.

14 September to 12 October

MARTHE CARRIER

PAYSAGES ET AUTRES VUES
Exhibition

Halfway between the real and the imaginary, three historiographies are inscribed against these walls of meaning, the sculptures functioning as spaces of reverberation. This work sets the boundaries of the sensible and the intelligible as a way of understanding reality.

Spring 1996
25 May to 22 June

13 March to 13 April

LISE BOISSEAU

PEINTURE
Exhibition

Painting, this assiduous work of the surface, is the leitmotiv of Lise Boisseau's plastic research. Constructed by an accumulation of caches and successive layers, the painting lets a dense, even tight content rise to its surface.

10 February to 9 March

BERTRAND R. PITT

PROJECTIONS ET PROLONGEMENTS
Exhibition

Seeking to transgress the prefabricated, the refabricated container shows a video content where the movement of a perpetual becoming is played out.

6 January to 3 February

HÉLÈNE LORD

APPRENTISSAGES
Exhibition

The "uncertain" territory of the body is the place where the works of Hélène Lord converge. The fragility and complexity of existence is reflected in the notion of "profession", which is the exhaustion and satisfaction of the work accomplished.

Fall 1995
18 November to 9 December

14 October to 11 November

LORRAINE SIMMS

D'UNE NATURE TEMPORELLE
Exhibition

Bringing the dichotomous terms together in order to see a new meaning emerges; revisiting our relationship with nature and culture, no longer as two opposites but in an uncertain and shifting tangle of their own limits.

Galerie Artcite

SITE / UNSEEN
Exhibition

Under the title Site/Unseen, the works of the 9 artists selected by Artcite question, each in their own way, the notion of identity. Concerned by the geographic location of Windsor, the artists' practices are part of an incessant redefinition of the meaning of space and place.

22 April to 20 May

GILDAS BERTHELOT

LA SALLE DE BAIN
Exhibition

With La Salle de bain, the artist stages a huge - even too huge - bathtub in the gallery space. The dramatization of a utilitarian object with playful forms questions the relationship between decorative art and domestic art and sculpture, this so-called "major" art in the twentieth century.

18 March to 15 April

SYLVIE FRASER

LES PAYSAGES ARMURÉS
Exhibition

In her recent work, Sylvie Fraser introduces the nature/culture opposition by confronting elements that belong to these distinct orders. Thus a fence of blades of grass adjoins a metal armour, itself taking on the appearance of a landscape whose camber is reminiscent of that of the vaulted Lanimal.

11 February to 11 March

JOSÉE BERNARD— MICHEL BOULANGER—MARTHE CARRIER—KEVIN DEFOREST—CHRISTIANE DESJARDINS—JOHANNE GAGNON—FRANÇOIS LACASSE

DIVERSITÉ ET RAPPROCHEMENTS

Fall 1994
19 November to 17 December

LUC DE VETTE

REQUIEM POUR UNE CONDITION INHUMAINE
Exhibition

With a touch of humour and irony, the artist Luc de Vette approaches the subjects of painting. Drawing from the records of daily life, the artist appropriates familiar, everyday, even banal objects and reinvests a reflexive power.

15 October to 12 November

MARTIN BORDEN

SOUS LE JARDIN
Exhibition

The idea of the garden as a meeting point between the natural and human worlds emerges from the fertile soil of images that myth, science, religion and language have deposited in our minds. Some of our most deeply rooted notions about our place in the living world take root in this subterranean landscape.

10 September to 8 October

LAUREL WOODCOCK

INSTALLATION PHOTO-VIDÉO
Exhibition

The imprint of words... and other works of art. My work has always recognized the silence and the imprint of words. Silence oscillates. Impotent and powerful. Stimulating and disturbing. Sometimes my body speaks. My posture or the way I cross my arms become words.

Spring 1994
28 May to 25 June

SUZAN VACHON

FILIATIONS
Exhibition

In a spatial setting where I favour active zones of silence, I am concerned about the gravity of certain bodies and I am interested in the thickness of things; questioning the lightness of their reputation.
